The Inaugural Firstdraft Print Edition, 2011

In 2011 firstdraft launches it’s first ‘Print Edition’ Fundraiser- produced in collaboration with BIG FAG PRESS, Sydney’s own artist run printing collective housed at The Firstdraft Depot in Woolloomooloo. This edition was lovingly printed on THE BIG FAG PRESS (a beautiful offset-lithographic proofing press) by the artist Agatha Gothe-Snape and Diego Bonetto (artist from the BIG FAG collective.)
Agatha’s untitled 2010, gouache on arches, 70 x 90 cm was commissioned by Hazelhurst Regional Gallery & Art Centre for the important exhibition ‘Time and Space- Art & Artist Run Spaces 1970 to now’ 2010. Firstdraft commissioned Gothe-Snape in late 2010 to work with BIG FAG PRESS to produce the work as a limited edition print.
This work was the perfect choice for Firstdraft’s inaugural print edition both in the selection of artist and of subject. Agatha Gothe-Snape is an emerging artist at an exciting tipping point in her career, with increasing representation in key curated exhibitions and commercial interest. Agatha is an Ex Director of Firstdraft (2007-2009) and Co-Founding Director of Sydney A.R.I ‘The Cosmic Battle For Your Heart.’ This dazzling image of cascading text represents both the physical and emotional environment of a contemporary artist, reflecting on making work in Sydney, in a global and historical context, in the present day. Gothe Snape’s text work is both serious and playful representing a studious engagement with the actual time and space in which she works, whilst allowing her mind to wander across the whimsical and banal aspects of daily practice.

Firstdraft is willing to deliver works to RP ART Framers for framing – for standard framing options (below). Framing to be confirmed directly with RP ART. Separate payment made to framer and to arrange collection privately.
